Few months before this system were only allowed for beta version but now for new updates of whatsapp this feature is enabled.Two way verification means that you may add a passkey along with your email ID to keep your account secure.It is an optional settings.you can either enable or disable it using your settings.
Enable two way verification
Open WhatsApp>Tap on the three dots of the landing page>Go to Settings>Account>Two Step Verification>Enable
